Is once saved, forever saved a license to sin?

One of the accusation often leveled against once saved, forever saved is that it gives people the license to engage in all forms of illicit acts. This accusation is often brought about by those who reject the idea of once saved, forever saved. Proponents believe they are actually contending for the truth of the gospel by pointing out once saved, forever saved as a demonic doctrine. But of a truth, those who think once saved, forever saved gives men the occasion to wallow in licentiousness, it because they are not thoroughly imbued with the whole counsel of God respecting once saved, forever saved. Their knowledge of the intricacies of once saved, forever saved is very shallow. How can a biblical doctrine give men the license to lead a sinful lifestyle? Or is it that now God is the author of sin? Those who holds the view that once saved, forever saved is an ungodly doctrine, unconsciously they are saying that God is the author of sin, why? Because a doctrine which has been faithfully ex...

Is once saved, forever saved a false doctrine?

I have come into contact with certain brethren, that even the title once saved, forever saved offends them. Once saved, forever saved is a teaching that contradicts the theology of many. Personally, once saved, forever saved is not a false doctrine, I consider it a good and a healthy doctrine, one which is very consistent with the Pauline epistles, and the rest of the scriptures.  What is Once saved, forever saved? Proponents of this doctrine, asserts that once a person exercises saving faith in Jesus Christ, the person becomes a new creation and is eternally saved. Once the person is saved by the power of the Holy Spirit, he or she is kept secure in his salvation, and will persevere in it, until he will meet face to face with the Lord. Those who advocate for this teaching, believes that a Christian cannot lose his salvation, for he is saved once and for all time.  Is it a false doctrine? Every false doctrine is not in unison with what the bible teaches. There are quite a numb...

How can a Christian be in the world, but not of the world?

This is a question that many people out there often ask. But of a truth, the answer can only be found in the holy scriptures. The bible is the only reliable source we can safely rely on to answer this question. Jesus said this to his beloved disciples: If you were of the world, the world would love its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, because of this the world hates you-- John 15; 19   In his high priestly prayer, he prayed thus: I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world-- John 17; 14 What is the world, Jesus was speaking about? A excellent author wrote this, "When we read of the "world" in the New Testament, we are reading the Greek word ''cosmos''. Cosmos most often refers to the inhabited earth and the people who live on the earth, which functions apart from God. Satan is the ruler of this "cosmos" (John 12:31; 16:11...

If I don't feel saved, does that mean am not saved?

I must confess that of a truth, there are many brethren out there who are in this state of dilemma. They allow their feelings to determine whether they are saved or not. If they are making progress in their christian life, then they know for sure God has saved them for his glory, but if they begin to feel unspiritual probably because of a sin they committed, then they easily conclude that they have lost their salvation, or were not saved even to begin with. The question is, can the way we feel be used as a determinant of our salvation? If I don't feel saved, does that mean am not saved? Or if I feel that I am saved, then it means truly am saved? The security of our salvation is not based on our feelings, but in the integrity of God's infallible word   The way you feel cannot be a determining factor as to whether you are saved or not, but it is based solely on the integrity of God's word. Our feelings are not reliable, what God's word teaches is the truth and nothing but...

Can a Christian lose his salvation?

This is an important question and what you believe will shape your view about the love of God and the nature of salvation itself. There are quite a number of Christians who believe from the depth of their hearts that salvation is not eternal, for them it can be lost. But is it true that salvation can be lost as many people out there affirm? Other brethren also are of the opinion that a born again christian cannot lose his or her salvation. For them they believe, if you are in Christ Jesus, God will not suffer you to be ever separated from his love. Is their belief about the eternalness of salvation in unison with what God's word teaches? The best and only way we can find out the answer to this question is simply to look into the scriptures.  Salvation is eternal  It is clear from the scriptures that salvation is eternal: And having been made perfect, He became to all those who obey Him the source of eternal salvation-- Hebrews 5; 9  If salvation in itself is eternal, the...

Is the priesthood of all believers true?

Beloved in Christ, is it true that all believers are priests unto God? The answer to this important theological question can only be found in the holy scriptures. Let us see what the bible have to say about this question. Who is a priest?  A priest in biblical times, was the one who acted as a mediator between God and the children of Israel. The priests were mandated to represent the people before God, but among the priests, it was only the high priest who was given the exclusive privilege to enter within the veil into the Holy of Holies to represent the people before God. He offered sacrifices and offerings, so the people could be accepted and forgiven of God, see (Hebrews 5; 1). The priests played an indispensable role in the religious lives of the people. But God's original intent was that the entire nation will be a kingdom of priests unto him, but they failed (Exodus 19; 5-6). The old testament priesthood served as a type of the priesthood of Christ. Jesus Christ came as a pri...

What does it mean, to live is Christ and to die is gain?

Beloved in Christ, this question is an important one, and am glad to give you a biblical answer. The text itself can be found in, Philippians 1; 21 and it reads: "For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain". Many of us have been focusing on the second part of the verse at the expense of the first, but both are equally important. As we are here on this side heaven, we are to endeavor to live for Christ, and when the day comes for us to lay aside this earthly tabernacle (Flesh), it shall be to our own benefit. For to me, to live is Christ means what? For to live is Christ means that we are to live our lives not for our own selves, but for Christ. It means we are to completely submit our lives to the will and precepts of Christ. Our lives must seek to bring honor and glory to the name of Christ. Whatever we do must all be geared towards the glorification of Christ. To live for Christ means we must preach the gospel. As Christians, let us spend and be spent in the cause o...
