What does it mean, to live is Christ and to die is gain?

Beloved in Christ, this question is an important one, and am glad to give you a biblical answer. The text itself can be found in, Philippians 1; 21 and it reads: "For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain". Many of us have been focusing on the second part of the verse at the expense of the first, but both are equally important. As we are here on this side heaven, we are to endeavor to live for Christ, and when the day comes for us to lay aside this earthly tabernacle (Flesh), it shall be to our own benefit.

For to me, to live is Christ means what?

For to live is Christ means that we are to live our lives not for our own selves, but for Christ. It means we are to completely submit our lives to the will and precepts of Christ. Our lives must seek to bring honor and glory to the name of Christ. Whatever we do must all be geared towards the glorification of Christ.

To live for Christ means we must preach the gospel. As Christians, let us spend and be spent in the cause of Christ. We must edify and comfort other saints with God's word (Philippians 2; 1, 1 Thessalonians 4; 18) and also to labor assiduously to win the lost at all cost for Christ (Romans 10; 14).

To live for Christ means, we must walk just as Jesus walked, see (1 John 2; 6). Jesus Christ is the perfect model of how we can live the Christian life and it is incumbent on us to emulate him. Our conduct must be consistent with our profession of faith in Jesus Christ

To live for Christ means, we must grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3; 18). Apostle Paul despite all the knowledge and revelation he had received from the Lord, still desired to know him even more: that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death-- Philippians 3; 10.

To live is Christ means, we are to lay aside whatever that serves as an encumbrance to us that we may win Christ. Paul wrote this: But whatever things were gain to me, those things I have counted as loss for the sake of Christ. More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ--Philippians 3: 7-8

Let us see to it that Jesus Christ is at the center of our lives

To die is gain means what?

As Christians we ought not to fear death, why? Because death is a transit point which will lead us into the very presence of the One who loved us and gave himself for us as an offering unto God for a sweet smelling savor. Death cannot separate us from Christ, rather it brings us to Christ. In my unregenerate state I feared death, but when I became a Christian and I understood from the scriptures, that death will only usher me to the presence of the One whom my soul loves. the fear of death lost it hold over my life.

Death is nothing but gain to the born again christian. Probably, you have lost a loved one, but I need you not to grieve as though there is no hope. If they died in the Lord, I can assure you that they are currently beholding with an unveiled face the glory of our Lord in heaven, they are in a better place than we here. Death is gain, for in death we will no longer be exposed to the pains and evil that is in this world. Like Paul, I would rather depart from this world to be with Christ which is by far better, but for the sake of the body of Christ, I would remain for awhile, so that I can continue to be a blessing unto many (Philippians 1; 22-25).

I derive great comfort from this text which says: we are of good courage, I say, and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord-- 2 Corinthians 5; 8. This verse means that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Our salvation is eternally secure in Christ, therefore we can rejoice knowing that death is great gain for us. God bless you

A thought to ponder 🤔

Death cannot separate us from Christ, rather it brings us to Christ.

We defend and exposit the truth of the gospel
