What is the fruit of the Spirit?

Beloved, in the book of Galatians the fruit of the Spirit is set in sharp contrast to the works of the flesh. Our goal as Christians is to walk in the Spirit, and not to walk in the flesh. I entreat you to patiently read through this short article to get a deeper understanding of the meaning of the fruit of the Spirit. The Works of the Flesh  Galatians 5: 19-21 "Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God". In our unregenerate state, our lives were characterized by the works of the flesh. We walked in them without any feeling of remorse or guilt, it was our lifestyle. We were destitute of the Holy Spirit, so we couldn't walk in the Spirit. The passage f...

Why does God allow us to go through trials and tribulation?

Beloved in Christ Jesus, it is written:  Indeed, all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted-- 2 Timothy 3; 12.  If God so much loves us, then why would he suffer his beloved children to go through all forms of trials and sufferings? Since God is good and the scriptures tells us that he is working out all things for our good, then it means that the trials and persecutions that God allows in our lives, must surely have a divine purpose.  Let us look from the scriptures, some of the reasons why God allow us to go through trials and tribulations? One reason is that, it is part of our sanctification process. God uses it to conform us into the image of his Son Jesus Christ (Romans 8; 29) . God uses trials and persecutions to mature us, so we can grow in our walk with the Lord Another reason is that trials and persecutions reveals the authenticity of our faith in Christ Jesus. Peter wrote by the Holy Spirit saying: "In this you greatly rejoice, even though n...

What does the "truth shall set you free" mean?

It is a common saying among many that the truth shall set you free. But where does this statement comes from? This statement was not made by confucius, Mohammed, Buddha or a popular philosopher out there. This statement can only be found in the bible and was specifically spoken by our Lord and Master Jesus Christ.  It is written in the gospel of John: And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free-- John 8; 32 Now, that we know the etymology of the statement, I will employ all of my powers to effectively communicate the meaning of what Jesus meant by what he said that, "You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free". Let us examine the context   "So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, "If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free."They answered Him, "We are Abraham's descendants and have never yet been enslaved to anyone; h...
