What makes Jesus Christ very unique? Part B

The Man Jesus Christ though willfully rejected by men, is nevertheless very precious to every believing Christian, and he is also unique from every creature. The uniqueness of his person distinguishes and sets him above all others. It is a grave error on the part of anyone to compare Jesus Christ with any religious leader, whether dead or alive. How can a created being be compared to the creator himself, it doesn't match up. Those who makes such comparison are unregenerate, and they are not instructed in the word of righteousness. A new creation will by no means compare Jesus Christ with any person or with any so called religious leader, but sanctifies him as holy in his heart. A born again Christian places Jesus Christ in an unmatched pedestal, that none can attain to his level. The uniqueness of our blessed Lord is conspicuously revealed in the scriptures for our spiritual edification. Let us go through some of the things that makes Jesus Christ very special from all others. One ...

What makes Jesus Christ very unique? Part A

Many people normally ask this question, what is it that makes Jesus Christ unique or special from all others? Some ask this question with a sincere heart in order to know more about Jesus Christ, whereas others ask this question out of mere prejudice against him. Many of the things that makes Jesus Christ unique is a central tenet of the Christian faith. let us look at some of the things that makes Jesus Christ so unique. One of the things that makes Jesus unique, is the fact that he is both God and Man simultaneously. No man or no religious leader is both God and Man at the same time, except the person of our Lord Jesus Christ. In order to save us from our sins, as God he condescended to take on flesh, and dwelt among us. "The two whole, perfect, and distinct natures, the Godhead and the Manhood, were inseparably joined together in one person, without conversion, composition, or confusion. Which person is very God, and very man, yet one Christ, the only mediator between God and M...

Why is Jesus Christ called the Lamb of God?

John the Baptist was baptizing the people in the river Jordan, and when he saw Jesus Christ coming towards him to be baptized of him, he immediately cried out saying: Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world (John 1: 29). The question is, why did the harbinger of Jesus Christ called him the Lamb of God which takes away the sin of the world? Under the law, lambs were used to make atonement for the sins of the people. Lambs played a significant role in Jewish sacrifices and offerings for sin. When a transgressor transgresses against God, in keeping with the law, he brings an innocent lamb without blemish to the priest, and the lamb is killed and the blood of the lamb is used to make atonement for the sin of the offender. So instead of the transgressor to die, the innocent Lamb dies as his substitute. In the temple, animal sacrifices for sin were offered on a daily basis: And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which c...

Why is the humanity of Jesus Christ very Significant?

Of a truth, the humanity of our Lord Jesus Christ is as important as his deity. Was Jesus truly human when he dwelt among us? Church history has shown that there was a sect that believed in the deity of Christ, but did not believe he was human. The fact that God deigned to take on flesh and tabernacled among sinful men, beats their unsanctified minds and for that reason they concluded that Jesus was only a phantom and not truly human. But was Jesus Christ a phantom? Certainly not. Jesus Christ was God veiled in human flesh (1Timothy 3; 16). It is in the Man Jesus Christ that the fullness of the Godhead dwells bodily (Colossians 2; 9). Apostle John in his epistle to the church, addressed the false teaching that was spreading every where that Jesus Christ did not come in the flesh. The apostle made it clear that those who denied the humanity of Christ were antichrist.  The apostle wrote: Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many fals...

Kenosis, what is it?

The new testament was originally written in the Greek language. "kenosis" is a Greek word which means "self emptying or to be emptied". "Kenosis" is an important word in biblical theology which carries rich meaning. In Christendom, "kenosis" is often associated with the person of our Lord Jesus Christ. In the book of Philippians, the apostle by the leading of the Holy Spirit wrote: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men (Philippians 2:6-7).  The apostle says that Jesus Christ was in the form of God, but at a point he made himself of "no reputation" and took upon him the form of a servant. The phrase "no reputation" is the Greek word for "kenosis". The NASB translates the passage in this way: who, as He already existed in the form of God, did not consider equality with G...

If Jesus Christ is God, then how can God be said to be exalted?

One time, I asked a brother in the faith this same question, that if Jesus Christ is God, then how can God be said to be exalted? But unfortunately, the brother couldn't answer, he was only sitting down and staring at me in the face. God is already exalted and does not need to be exalted again. So what did the apostle Paul meant when he wrote: Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name (Philippians 2: 9). Of a truth, Jesus Christ is God and equal with the father in his divine essence: That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him (John 5; 23).  Jesus Christ also said: I and my Father are one. Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him. Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me? The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and b...

Why did Jesus say "My Father is greater than I'?

Jesus Christ stated clearly without any obscurity whatsoever that the father was greater than him. This is what Jesus said: Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I (John 14:28). This statement from our Lord Jesus Christ has caused much controversy and unlearned men have used that as an occasion to deny the true deity of Christ. At first glance, you might be tempted to think that Jesus is not God because he himself said; "for my father is greater than I". So what did Jesus mean when he said the father was greater than him? Does it mean that Jesus Christ is not God? The answer to the question lies in understanding who Jesus Christ really is.  When Jesus said the father was greater than him, it does not mean he denied his deity, or that he is not God. Jesus Christ affirmed his deity on several occasions, he made bold claims that an ordinary man w...

Is Jesus Christ worthy of Worship?

Beloved, if Jesus Christ is God, then of course he is worthy to be worshipped, but if he is not God, then there is no point to worship him. The bible is our final authority and we must accept what the scriptures teaches about the nature of Christ. After Christ rose from the dead, one day he appeared to his faithful disciples and Thomas who was one of his disciple, called him, "My Lord and my God" (John 20; 28). Jesus did not rebuke him for calling him Lord God, but rather received it, because that is who he is. Apostle Paul refers to Jesus Christ in his epistle to the Romans as "God blessed forever" (Romans 9; 6). The old testament Prophet Isaiah called him  '' the mighty God " (Isaiah 9; 6) and Jesus identified himself as the great "I AM " (John 8; 58) which is a reference to his eternal nature as God, see (Exodus 3; 13-14). The scriptures unabashedly teaches the deity of Christ. I have proven from the bible that Jesus Christ is God, and as ...

Why was Jesus called the Son of David?

Many people do not understand why Jesus in his incarnation was called the Son of David. The purpose for this article is to help you comprehend what it means that Jesus is the Son of David. Jesus was called "Son of David" on several occasions, see (Matthew 9; 27, 12; 23, 20: 30-31, Luke 18; 39). But the question is, what does the title "Son of David" really means? It means that when you trace Jesus genealogy, you will see that he was a direct descendant of David. Jesus in his human nature was from the house of David. Matthew wrote: The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham. And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ (Matthew 1:1,16).  Matthew tells us that Jesus in his humanity was the Son of David, and he traced his roots from the line of his adopted human father Joseph. The title "Son of David" signifies that Jesus as a Man was a descendant of David. Apostle Paul wrote: C...

Was Jesus a Prophet?

I have had interlocution with certain brethren in the faith, and they are very uncomfortable when you ask them whether Jesus was a prophet or not. Some will tell you, no, he was not a prophet, and others will reply with a resounding yes, and yet they do not want to talk about him being a prophet because if they do, they feel they are placing Jesus on an equal pedestal with the old testament Prophets. But the biblical answer to the above question is that Jesus was truly a Prophet sent by God. Who is a Prophet? A prophet is a mouthpiece of God. They are messengers, and representatives of God to his people. In the bible, prophets were carriers of God's will to the people. They communicated the exact words of God to the people. Mostly you will find prophets use phrases like; "Thou saith the LORD'' (2 Samuel 24; 12; 2 kings 1; 4, 1 Chronicles 17; 7) or "the Word of the Lord came unto me saying" (1 Kings 17; 8, 2 kings 15; 12, 2 Chronicles 11; 2).  When they use s...

Was Jesus truly sinless?

The answer to this important question can only be found in the holy scriptures. Was Jesus truly sinless? The answer is yes he was and still sinless, he is immaculate in his two natures, his divine and human nature. When Adam transgressed against God, sin and it's dire consequences entered into the world: Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned (Romans 5:12). The entire human race including you and I became sinners by nature. The bible says: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). We were alienated from God by reason of sin, and nothing could propitiate God's wrath against us. No amount of good works could reconcile us to God. All the sacrifices offered under the law could not take away sin, because they were imperfect sacrifices: For the Law, since it has only a shadow of the good things to come and not the very form of things, can never, by the same sacrifi...

If Jesus was God, then why did he pray to God?

Brethren, because Jesus prayed whiles on earth, many people have used that as an occasion to deny his Deity. Their reasoning is that if Jesus is God, then there was no point for him to pray. If Jesus prayed to his father whiles on earth, that does not in anyway make him less God. The answer to their cavil lies in a proper understanding of the two natures of Christ, his human and divine nature. It is important to know, that before the incarnation of Christ, he was already in existence with the father and the Spirit. The members of the Trinity was in being before time began, and they enjoyed each others company and loved one another. Jesus the Son of God was in being with the father, even before he took on flesh.  Let us look at some passages which supports Jesus Christ preexistence with the father before he dwelt among us, Jesus said: No one has ascended into heaven, but He who descended from heaven: the Son of Man. As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must...

What does it mean that Jesus is the Son of God?

Many people are familiar with the term "Son of God" in relation to Jesus, but are ignorant of it's true meaning. There are certain religious cults like the Jehovah's witness, who believe that the meaning of Son of God in it's application to Jesus implies that he was created. Others also are of the view that God the father had intimacy with the virgin Mary, and that brought about the birth of Jesus Christ. When Christian's call Jesus the Son of God, it doesn't mean Jesus was created nor began to be the Son of God at his birth. Jesus is the Son of God in a unique sense, in that he is God. We Christians are the sons of God only by virtue of our regeneration which includes faith, and adoption into God's family. Paul wrote by the Spirit: For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus (Galatians 3; 26). And in his epistle to the Ephesians he wrote: He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intent...

What does it mean that Jesus is the Son of Man?

The title that our blessed Lord often applied to himself is the title "the Son of Man", see ( Matthew 12; 8, Mark 9; 31, Luke 9; 56, John 5; 27). When God called Ezekiel "Son of Man", he was simply calling him a "human being" (Ezekiel 2; 1, 8, 8; 6, 11; 4). The term "Son of Man" emphasized the fact that the prophet was a human being. And when Jesus called himself "the Son of Man", he was simply saying that he is truly human as we are, only that he is without sin (1 John 3; 5). It is amazing that the eternal Son of God, who is of the same essence with God, voluntarily took on a human nature, and identified himself as the Son of Man. Jesus was not half human when he dwelt among us, but was fully human just as we are. He ate: The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, 'Behold, a gluttonous man and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!' Yet wisdom is vindicated by her deeds."  (Matthew 11; 19), he rejo...

Is Jesus Christ a creature?

A careful scrutiny of the Holy scriptures reveals that the Man Jesus Christ is not a created being. Mormons, Muslims, Jehovah's witness, and others who hold the same opinion that Jesus Christ is a created being, have fallen into grievous error, which is to their own disadvantage. There is no scripture read in it's context that can lead to the conclusion, that Jesus Christ is part of God's creation. Those who deny the creatorship of Christ also deny the truth of his Deity. This is because they do not accept him as God, therefore they do not accept him as the creator of the entire universe and everything in it as well. But the bible tells us, that Jesus Christ is not a creature, rather reveals him as the creator. Apostle John wrote: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. He was in the world, and the world was made...

The Meaning of Incarnation in biblical Christianity

The term incarnation literally means, "being made flesh". The biblical doctrine of the incarnation of Christ is a central belief in Christianity which is non negotiable. It is an essential creed of our Christian faith. The bible teaches that at a point in human history, God took upon himself a human nature into union with himself. He willingly condescended to take upon himself the likeness of sinful flesh and tabernacled among us. It is important to know that Jesus Christ did not set aside his divine nature, when he dwelt among us. He was and still is perfect in Godhood, and Manhood with each nature retaining it's attributes peculiar to it. The reason why Jesus was still God when he became human is because, God cannot cease to be God, not even for a second.  There are certain unlearned men who are of the view, that Jesus Christ laid aside his divine nature in his incarnation. But such a view is absurd and in direct antithesis to the holy writ. Jesus was fully God and fu...
