How do I receive answers to my prayers?

Beloved in Christ, this is an important question which many believers are seeking answers. But the answer to this all important question is simply to look into the scriptures. Does God truly answer our prayers? Yes, he does and we have biblical evidences to buttress this fact, and even in our own lives, we can attest to the fact that God indeed answers our prayers and supplications. You can read my article, ''Does God really answer our prayers? to dive deeper. But the question for today is, ''How do I receive answers to my prayers? There are key biblical principles we can apply for us to receive answers to our heartfelt desires. Let us by the aid of the Spirit look at some of them for our spiritual edification and comfort. Our prayers should be mixed with faith If you are praying and deep down your heart you are unsure whether God will answer, then how can you receive answers to your prayer? Apostle James wrote this: But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for ...

What does it mean that Jesus is the Judge?

Brethren, it is interesting to know that the Man who was rejected by many, and was crucified on the cross of calvary two thousand years ago, the same has been ordained by God to be the Judge both of the living and the dead. Jesus is designated as the ultimate sovereign judge, who will judge believers and unbelievers alike, he will judge the quick and the dead. Let us look at some of the scriptures which speaks of Jesus as the Judge  "For not even the Father judges anyone, but He has given all judgment to the Son"-- John 5; 22 "And He ordered us to preach to the people, and solemnly to testify that this is the One who has been appointed by God as Judge of the living and the dead"-- Acts 10; 42 ''Therefore having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all people everywhere should repent, because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all me...

What did Jesus mean when he said, I AM?

Beloved in Christ, there are different names and titles of Jesus in the holy scriptures, which reveals an aspect of his person and mission, but the name, "I AM" is a bit unique. The name reveals to us who Jesus really is. Let us dive deep into the scriptures to uncover why Jesus applied the divine name, ''I AM'' to himself. In the book of John, it is recorded:  Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day, and he saw it and was glad." So the Jews said to Him, "You are not yet fifty years old, and have You seen Abraham? "Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I AM." Therefore they picked up stones to throw at Him, but Jesus hid Himself and went out of the temple (John 8; 56-59) . I see glorious truths encapsulated in this very passage before us this day. Jesus was saying to the throng and to the religious leaders that their father Abraham rejoiced at the prospect of seeing his day, and he saw it with an ...

What does it mean that Jesus is the Friend of sinners?

Beloved in Christ, Jesus was called friend of sinners by the scribes and Pharisees in a derogatory manner. Jesus said: The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, 'Behold, a gluttonous man and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!'-- Luke 7; 34 The religious leaders considered themselves as righteous, they saw themselves to be in a right standing with God, whiles they dissociated themselves from the tax collectors, prostitutes, outcasts and more. They saw them to be sinners, but those were the very people Jesus Christ came for.  Jesus defined his mission in the synagogue by reading from the scroll of Isaiah, a Messianic prophecy about the anticipated Messiah and he applied it to himself: And He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up; and as was His custom, He entered the synagogue on the Sabbath, and stood up to read. And the book of the prophet Isaiah was handed to Him. And He opened the book and found the place where it was written; "...

What is vicarious atonement?

Beloved in Christ, vicarious atonement is a big theological jargon, but it's meaning is very simple. Vicarious means on behalf of others. Atonement also means reconciliation or making amends to restore a friendly relationship. In christian theology, it is the teaching that Jesus Christ stood as our substitute, and through his death, he reconciled us to God. Another theological term for vicarious atonement is substitutionary atonement. Vicarious atonement is a common theme throughout the scriptures of the old and the new testament.  Let us look at some of those scriptures The prophet Isaiah wrote: ''But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, And by His scourging we are healed''-- Isaiah 53; 5 ''As a result of the anguish of His soul, He will see it and be satisfied; By His knowledge the Righteous One, My Servant, will justify the many, As He will bear their iniquities...

Will God judge those who have never heard about Him?

Precious Reader, this question is a difficult one to answer. I must confess that am deeply emotional about this question, because it carries eternal consequences. Will God judge a person who has never heard about him? How can God be justified in condemning a person who has never heard anything about his existence?  Isn't God unjust to cast a person to hell who has never heard about him? This is a difficult question that many people out there are asking and probably you reading this article may also be asking. Though this is a difficult question, nevertheless, the answer to this question is encapsulated in the Holy scriptures. I will employ all my powers to explain it to you in a simple way you can easily comprehend. Some theories  Some people believe, since such people have never heard about God, God does not have a righteous foundation upon which to condemn them for their sins. According to that theory, God will be unjust to punish them for something they have no knowledge ab...

Do Christians have two natures?

Of a truth, this is an important question which is worth our consideration. There are many people out there who believe that a Christian possesses two natures, namely his new and old nature. But is this view in line with what God's word teaches? Others also have a contrary view, they are of the opinion that a Christian has only one nature, which is the new nature.  To them, our old sinful nature was completely severed when we became a new creation. But is this view scriptural, is it consistent with other parts of the scriptures? Both views cannot be right, one view must be right whiles the other view must be erroneous.  "A great part of sanctification is to be aware of this, to recognize it, and to contend with it, keeping the old locked up and silent. Lose this concept, and we lose precious understanding for sanctification"-- Dr. Peters Master. But what saith the scriptures, the scriptures is the ultimate standard of authority by which every doctrine must be tested and e...

If God is Omniscient, then why pray?

Beloved in Christ, this kind of questions has affected the prayer life of many, because they are deficient in knowledge with respect to what the bible really teaches about prayer. Someone may ask, what is the essence of praying, if God is all knowing and already knows what we will pray for? If God is Omniscient and sovereign, why does he still require of us to pray? Why doesn't he just do certain things in our lives without our prayer, after all he is Omniscient and sovereign? I think it is a logical question which must be answered biblically, so that those seeking answers will be satisfied. Yes, God is Omniscient, sovereign and omnipotent, yet he requires us to pray. But why does he want us to pray, if he is all knowing? Because, prayer is the primary means we communicate and fellowship with our father.  Though God already knows from eternity past what we will pray for, and has already made provisions to meet our needs, yet, because he wants to fellowship with us, he bids us to co...
