What is the Romans road to salvation?
Beloved in Christ, the Romans road to salvation is a simple and concise way of communicating the truth of the gospel using verses from the new testament book of Romans. The gospel is clearly taught in the epistle to the Romans. The reason why we need salvation, the sacrifice of Christ, and how we can receive salvation, and it's benefits are encapsulated in the book of Romans.
Let us look into detail some of the verses about the Romans road to salvation
Why we need salvation
Romans 3: 23
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God
This text highlights the fact that the entire human race have sinned against God. Both Jews and gentiles are equally guilty before God, with no exception, see (Romans 1; 18-32, 2: 2-29, 3: 1- 23)
Romans 5: 12
Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned
We are told that through the disobedience of one Man, sin and it's dire consequences which includes death spread to all men. We were in the loins of Adam when he transgressed against God, so through his one act of sin, we became sinners by nature.
Romans 6: 23
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Here, we can see from the text that the consequences of sin is not only physical death, but also spiritual and eternal death. But the good news is that, the gift of eternal life is in Christ Jesus alone.
We have all sinned against God, and we stand guilty before him, God will be justified, even if he should cast us into eternal damnation. We have no hope, but God is our only source of hope.
The sacrifice of Christ
Romans 5: 8
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
As I wrote afore, God is our only source of hope, for this reason, he sent forth his only begotten Son to lay down his precious life for us, whiles we were still rebellious sinners. In our state of helplessness and hopelessness, at just the right time, Christ died for us. Jesus in his death purchased eternal salvation for us. Learn this, the death of Christ in our stead is the supreme and the highest manifestation of God's love for us.
How we can receive salvation?
Romans 10: 9-10
That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation
The only way to receive salvation is simply to believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ from the depth of your heart and also to confess him as your Lord and you shall be saved. Salvation cannot be found in Muhammad, Confucius, Buddha and more. Salvation can only be found in the person of our Lord Jesus Christ. Apart from Jesus Christ, eternal damnation is inevitable
Benefits of salvation
Romans 5: 1
Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ
The moment we trusted in Christ for salvation, instantly we were freely justified, to wit, we were declared righteous. We were acquitted and discharged from all charges against us. God sees us as righteous and treats us as righteous. The fruit of our justification is peace with God. We are at peace with God and this peace is not temporal, but eternal, this peace endures forever.
Romans 5: 1, 9
Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him.
Our faith in Christ for salvation secures us from the wrath ready to be revealed in the time to come.
Romans 8; 1
Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
This is the good news about the gospel, that in Christ we shall never ever be condemned on account of any sin we have committed. We are justified and our justification secures us from condemnation.
Romans 8:35-39
Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Just as it is written, "For Your sake we are being put to death all day long; We were considered as sheep to be slaughtered. "But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
We are united with God through faith in Christ Jesus, and there is absolutely nothing that can separate us from his love. We are not only safe and secure in God's love for us, but nothing can sever our union with him
The Romans road to salvation is all about using verses from the book of Romans to explain the truth of the gospel. God bless you
A thought to ponder 🤔
We are not only safe and secure in God's love for us, but nothing can sever our union with him
We defend and exposit the truth of the gospel
