I just got saved, what should I do next?

My heart is filled with joy unspeakable, because you have come to the saving knowledge in the person of our Lord Jesus Christ. I rejoice over you this day and the angels in heaven also rejoices over you, because of the gift of your eternal salvation, for it written: In the same way, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents (Luke 15; 10).

 If the angels who are not even recipients of salvation rejoices on account of your salvation, then I encourage you to treasure this gratuitous gift of grace. Beloved, it is God's will for you to have an unwavering assurance of your salvation throughout your Christian journey. Do not suffer anyone to rob you of the joy of your salvation, for the Lord has saved you once and for all eternity and will never lose you. You are secure in his loving hands and nothing can pluck you away from him.

Apostle John wrote this by the leading of the Spirit: These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life (1 John 5: 13). God wants you to know from henceforth, that you have eternal life, which depicts the fact that your salvation is eternally secure. You are now part of God's family and a partaker of all the blessings of the redemptive work of Christ. Be rooted and established in the knowledge of your eternal salvation. Now that you are a Christian, I just want you to know that you have now began your Christian life. To have a good and a successful Christian life, I entreat you, dearly beloved, to take your time and read some of the things you need to do next.

Be part of a Local church 

In the book of Acts, it is written: They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer (Acts 2; 42). All the new born again Christians were ingrafted into the community of faith. You need to find a good bible believing church, so you can begin to fellowship with them. You need to be part of a local church, because without the local church, your spiritual growth will be affected. There are lots of advantages in being part of a local assembly of believers, some include, you will establish godly relationships with other brethren in the faith, you will have the privilege to serve God in the church, you will be taught God's word and you will also benefit from the prayers of other Christians and many more. I beseech you to be part of a local church for your own spiritual edification.

Read your bible on a daily basis 

You need to cultivate from onwards the habit of reading your bible every day. The bible is God's instruction manual to you, and as you read you will receive light, wisdom, and guidance to navigate through this life (Psalm 119; 105). You cannot grow spiritually if you neglect personal study of God's word. I know you might be asking that where exactly should I start reading from. I answer by saying, that start from the gospels, especially the book of John. It is important that you become more acquainted with the life and earthly ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ. I encourage you to immense yourself in God's word more often and your depth of knowledge about the nature and work of Christ will abound yet more and more. Let it be your heart desire to grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3; 18). Beloved, be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth (2 Timothy 2; 15).

Pray every day 

Prayer played a pivotal role in the life and ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ, though he was God manifested in the flesh. Jesus Christ is our great exemplar of how we can live our lives in this world. If Jesus prayed whiles on earth, then it behooves us to do likewise. What is prayer? Prayer is the act of communicating with God. So you need to make it a habit to talk to God more often in prayer. The primary reason you need to pray is so that you can fellowship with God, to build deep intimacy with him. Prayer also offers you the opportunity to present your petitions, your request before him and I know for sure that he will supply all your needs according to his riches in glory by Jesus Christ (Philippians 4: 19). God longs for you to commune with him through prayer, than you can ever think of. Make it a point to be consistent with your prayer life, for consistency yields desirable results

Walk in Love

Walking in love is a sign that you are truly born again, for it written: Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God (1 John 4: 7). Jesus also said that our love for one another is what authenticates that we are truly his disciples: A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another (John 13: 34-35). Beloved, I know you are saved and the Holy Spirit lives inside you, therefore I beseech you to walk in Love, even as Christ loved us and gave himself for us as an offering and a sacrifice unto God. Show forth the love of Christ towards all men, including those who hate you and despitefully uses and persecutes you. As you walk in love, others will begin to see Jesus in you and will ascribe the glory to God

Talk to others about Jesus 

The final thing is to develop the attitude of sharing your faith in Christ with others. God has saved you and he can use you to reach out to others who are lost. Meditate and memorize the scriptures and begin to preach the gospel to the poor in spirit. The lost can only be saved through the propagation of the gospel of Christ. In your dialogue with your friends, family members and other close acquaintance, you can use that as an opportunity to witness to them about the unconditional love of God in Christ Jesus. It will amaze you that through your efforts, lives will begin to transform and souls will begin to be saved. Avail yourself and you will be an instrument in God's hands, for God to use to reach out to the lost souls out there.

Beloved, as a new born baby, give yourself wholly to the things which I have written to you in this article and the good Lord will bless you

What is the purpose of the church?

Beloved in Christ, the biblical meaning of church is an assembly of believers. The Greek word, "Ekklesia" means, ''the called out ones or a Christian community''. Christians are the very people God has chosen and called them out unto himself. The church constitute Christ hand, his eyes, his mouth, his legs, etc. We are the body of Christ and individual members of it, see (1 Corinthians 12; 27). If Jesus was God, then why did he not know the day and hour of his return?

Is it true that Jesus did not know the day and hour of his return during the days of his flesh? The answer is yes, he did not know, for it is written: "But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone. For the coming of the Son of Man will be just like the days of Noah (Matthew 24: 36-37). So if Jesus is God, as we Christians claim, then how come he did not know the day and hour of his return?
