Is Jesus the only way of salvation?

Many people are of the view that there are many ways to be saved. They believe that there are quite a number of ways by which a person can be saved eternally. Such asseveration is fallacious and in direct contradiction to what the bible really teaches. Christian's from all over around the world have been insisting on the uniqueness of Christ as the only way of salvation. The bible does not present two saviors, but presents only one savior who is the savior of all those who trust in him without discrimination, and his name is Jesus Christ. The way of salvation is narrow and only a few finds it. Those who reject the accredited savior are on the broad road, which is a pathway of destruction, but those who have trusted in Christ alone for salvation are on the narrow road, a pathway way that leads to life and wholeness. Salvation can be found in none else, save in the person of Jesus Christ. All other supposed means of salvation does not hold water, because Jesus Christ is the only way to the father. Let us look at some of the reasons why every Christian is fully persuaded of the exclusivity of Jesus Christ as the only way of salvation.

One of the reasons why we believe Jesus is the only way is that, he himself claimed to be the only accredited way of salvation. He said: "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me (John 14: 6). From the text, we can see that Jesus is not one of the many ways, for he stated emphatically that he is the only way. He is also the truth of the gospel that can set you free from the domineering power of sin, and usher you into a life of liberty. And he is life himself and he has the power to dispense eternal life to as many as can call upon him in truth. In another place he also said: I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture (John 10: 9). Jesus is the door that leads to salvation, but he who comes through another door will be ashamed. Jesus also said in another place: Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am He, you will die in your sins"(John 8: 24). This saying of Jesus Christ is still applicable to whoever that rejects him as the only way of salvation.

Another reason why we believe Jesus Christ is the only way of salvation is because of the unanimous testimony of the early apostles. The apostles of old unabashedly heralded that Jesus Christ is the only Savior and the only means of salvation. Apostle Peter preached and said: And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved" (Acts 4: 12). Peter says that there is salvation in no one else except in the Man Jesus Christ. And in the epistle of Paul to his protégé, he wrote: For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus (1Timothy 2: 5). Jesus Christ is theanthropos, as a result, he is able to perfectly represent both sides to bring about reconciliation. Through the mediatorial role of our Lord Jesus Christ, we are now in an unbroken eternal union with our God. The fact that the early apostles proclaimed that Jesus is the only way of salvation, is a good reason why we hold the same view.

Another important reason why we believe Jesus is the only way of salvation is that, he alone fulfilled the law, paid the penalty for sin and satisfied God's justice. When Adam sinned against God, sin and it's consequences entered into the world. We were separated from the holy God and his wrath abided on us. We had no hope of salvation, for we have broken God's law and we have to pay the price for our sins. But God came down in the person of Jesus Christ, who alone fulfilled the law to the uttermost. He has brought the law back to its esteemed glory. Jesus paid the price for our sins, and his death propitiated God's justice which was against us. Because, Jesus has paid the penalty for our sins, we can rest assured that we will not be punished for the same sins our substitute suffered for. No one could satisfy God's justice, except the person of Jesus Christ. This tells us that Jesus Christ is the only Savior who has saved us from our sins, and placed us in an eternal relationship with our father

Another important reason is the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Whatever Jesus said concerning himself was proven to be true after his resurrection from the dead. His resurrection vindicated his unique claim to be the only way of salvation. Because Jesus rose from the dead, myriads of myriads of lost souls have come to the saving faith in him. The lost can only be saved on the basis of the death and the resurrection of Jesus Christ. We cannot rely on the message of a dead religious leader like Confucius, Buddha, Mohammed and many more to show us the way of eternal life. Jesus is above all others, he is unique, he is not dead, he is alive. He continues to echo the same words he did two thousand years ago, saying, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me (John 14: 6). For the fact that Jesus rose from the dead, makes his words even more trustworthy. Jesus words are true and worthy of all acceptation. He died and resurrected on the third day, hence, making him the only way of salvation.

The last reason why we believe Jesus Christ is the only way is that, he alone fulfilled the scriptural prophecies respecting the office of the  Messiah. Prior to his incarnation, God spoke through his prophets like the Prophet Isaiah and he wrote down these words: But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, And by His scourging we are healed (Isaiah 53: 5). And in the same chapter it is written: Therefore, I will allot Him a portion with the great, And He will divide the booty with the strong; Because He poured out Himself to death, And was numbered with the transgressors; Yet He Himself bore the sin of many, And interceded for the transgressors (Isaiah 53: 12). These were the prophetic utterance of the prophet concerning the Messiah. The words of the prophet was literally fulfilled in the life and ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus is the one and only person who offered himself as a substitute for the salvation of many. The savior whom the prophets of old prophesied was none other than Jesus himself, the substance of all those prophecies.

To summarize the above exposition in few words, the truth of the matter is that Jesus Christ is the only way of salvation for apart from him there is none else. God bless you
