Is Jesus Christ worthy of Worship?

Beloved, if Jesus Christ is God, then of course he is worthy to be worshipped, but if he is not God, then there is no point to worship him. The bible is our final authority and we must accept what the scriptures teaches about the nature of Christ. After Christ rose from the dead, one day he appeared to his faithful disciples and Thomas who was one of his disciple, called him, "My Lord and my God" (John 20; 28). Jesus did not rebuke him for calling him Lord God, but rather received it, because that is who he is. Apostle Paul refers to Jesus Christ in his epistle to the Romans as "God blessed forever" (Romans 9; 6). The old testament Prophet Isaiah called him  '' the mighty God " (Isaiah 9; 6) and Jesus identified himself as the great "I AM " (John 8; 58) which is a reference to his eternal nature as God, see (Exodus 3; 13-14). The scriptures unabashedly teaches the deity of Christ. I have proven from the bible that Jesus Christ is God, and as God he is worthy of worship.

The Greek word for "worship" often used by the new testament authors is "proskuneo" and it means to prostrate oneself in homage. It refers to deep respect, reverence, obeisance and adoration ascribed to a man, or a god, or to God himself. The only being worthy of worship is not man, nor man made god's, nor angels, but the only one who is worthy of worship is God. Jesus Christ on earth was worshipped as God and he received their worship. Even as a baby, Jesus was worshipped: Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to WORSHIP HIM. And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and FELL DOWN, and WORSHIPPED HIM: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh (Matthew 2: 2, 11). The bible also says: Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God (Matthew 14:33). The disciples offered divine worship to Jesus, and he did not object to their worship because he deserves it.

Before Jesus will ascend to heaven, he met two of his disciples and they worshipped him as their Lord God: And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him (Matthew 28:9). When John was about to worship the holy angel, the angel stopped him at once because they are not worthy of worship and he told him to worship God, see (Revelation 19; 10). But in the case of Jesus, he never stopped those who worshipped him in anyway but rather accepted their worship. God the father himself commanded all the angels to worship Jesus Christ: And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God WORSHIP HIM (Hebrews 1:6). If Jesus Christ is not God, then how can the first person of the Trinity in the person of the father command all the holy angels to worship him?

No being is to be worshipped aside God, and the elect angels will by no means pay divine "proskuneo" to any one other than God, therefore Jesus is God because they "proskuneo" him. Paul by the Spirit pen down these words: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth. And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father (Philippians 2:6-11).

Jesus Christ was God manifested in the flesh, and he died, was buried and resurrected again on the third day, and he is highly exalted to seat at the right hand of the father, and on that faithful day, divine  obeisance and worship will be given to him by every created being, and every one will acknowledge his divine sovereignty by calling him Lord. Jesus Christ is not an ordinary Man, he is the one true God. In the book of Revelation, it is written: And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odour, which are the prayers of saints. And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth. And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands; Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour and glory, and blessing. And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever. And the four beasts said, Amen. And the four and twenty elders fell down and worshipped him that liveth for ever and ever (Revelation 5: 8-14).

From a careful examination of the passage and without any iota of ambiguity, we can see that divine homage and "proskuneo'' was ascribed to Jesus Christ, the Lamb who was slain. The twenty four elders and the myriads of angels will not worship Jesus if he is a creature like them. The fact that they bowed down and worshipped him is an indication that he is God worthy of worship. In the book of Isaiah, the prophet saw a vision of angels worshipping God: In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory (Isaiah 6:1-3). In the gospel of John, the apostle gave us a revelation by the Spirit, that the One whom the angelic beings were worshipping was none other than Jesus Christ himself: These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spake of him (John 12:41). Jesus prior to his incarnation was in existence as God and properly worshipped as God.

Prayer in itself is a form of worship. Paul by the Spirit invoked benediction upon the Philippians in the name of God the father and our Lord Jesus Christ. The apostle by the Spirit placed our Lord Jesus Christ on an equal pedestal with the father: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ (Philippians 1:2). When the disciples sought for one who will replace Judas who fell by transgression to occupy the office of an apostle, they directed their prayers to the Lord Jesus: And they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, which knowest the hearts of all men, shew whether of these two thou hast chosen. That he may take part of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place (Acts 1:24-25). The disciples used the Greek word "kurious" which is interpreted as "Lord". "Lord" is a divine title which belongs to our Lord Jesus Christ and the disciples offered prayers to him, which is an undeniable prove of his deity and also depicts that he is worthy of worship. Biblical Christians hold to the truth of the Deity of Christ and we worship him as such. God bless you

            A thought to ponder

If Jesus Christ is not God, then how can the first person of the Trinity in the person of the father command all the holy angels to worship him?

We defend and exposit the truth of the gospel
