How can Jesus be God, if Numbers 23; 19, says God is not a Man?

This particular text of scripture is one of the favorite verse often used by skeptics to disprove the biblical doctrine of the deity of Christ. But the question is, does Numbers 23; 19 really mean that Jesus cannot be God? The secret to interpreting difficult passages like Numbers 23; 19 is to interpret it in the light of it's immediate context, and also to compare scripture with scripture, so you can comprehend the whole counsel of God concerning the subject matter at hand.  What does Numbers 23; 19 mean? Let us take a good look at the passage: "God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent; Has He said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good? (Numbers 23; 19). Their reasoning is this, if God is not a Man, then Jesus being a Man cannot be God. A careful examination of this verse does not in anyway mean that God cannot become a Man. It does not negate the possibility of God taking on flesh. The text does not argue ...

Am I still saved if I continue to struggle with a particular sin?

This is a question that many of our brethren in the Christian faith are asking, and I count it a privilege for me to give them a biblical answer for their enquiry. There are a sect of Christians who believe in the idea, that a born again christian can attain to the level of sinless perfection. This is one of their prooftext: ' 'Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God" (1 John 3; 8). The question is, does this text truly mean that a Christian, after salvation cannot literally sin or struggle with sin? At first glance you might think it is so, but further examination of the verse will prove the otherwise. kindly read my article, ''Can a christian be sinless in this life?''  for an in-depth study.     Every Christian struggles with sin  In the book of Hebrews, the author wrote: "Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside ev...

What are the meaning of Jesus last seven sayings?

The last sayings of Jesus are the seven last words which he uttered whiles suffering on the cross for us. The last sayings of Jesus are significant and carries deep theological and spiritual meaning. Let us take a look at the last seven sayings of Jesus from the gospels Matthew 27:46 About the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, "Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?" that is, "My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?" Luke 23:34 "Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing." And they cast lots, dividing up His garments among themselves. Luke 23:43 And He said to him, "Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise." John 19:26-27 When Jesus then saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing nearby, He said to His mother, "Woman, behold, your son!" Then He said to the disciple, "Behold, your mother!" From that hour the disciple took her into his own household. John 19:28 After ...

What can we learn from Jesus calming the storm?

Beloved in Christ, the life and ministry of our blessed Lord as recorded in the gospels, are written down for our learning. The story of Jesus calming the storm can be found in the synoptic gospels, namely Matthew, Mark and Luke, see (Matthew 8; 18-27, Mark 4; 35-41, Luke 8; 22-25 ). Jesus calming the boisterous wind was an amazing and momentous miracle which is worth our attention. Let us look at the passage itself: Now on one of those days Jesus and His disciples got into a boat, and He said to them, "Let us go over to the other side of the lake." So they launched out. But as they were sailing along He fell asleep; and a fierce gale of wind descended on the lake, and they began to be swamped and to be in danger. They came to Jesus and woke Him up, saying, "Master, Master, we are perishing!" And He got up and rebuked the wind and the surging waves, and they stopped, and it became calm. And He said to them, "Where is your faith?" They were fearful and am...

Was Mary sinless?

I am of the view that any doctrine which is not rooted and grounded in God's word should be rejected. Man made teachings which is not consistent with the holy scriptures should be rendered null and void. What is the immaculate conception? The immaculate conception states that, Mary the mother of Jesus was preserved from original sin and personal sins during her lifetime. This doctrine asserts that Mary was born without a sinful nature and she never committed any sin as she sojourned here on earth.  Kenneth Baker a Roman Catholic theologian wrote this, "Two special factors rendered Mary impeccable or unable to sin. The first was her constant awareness of God, living always in His presence, and the second was her reception of special and extraordinary graces. These special graces made it possible for Mary to maintain a perfect harmony in her mind, will and emotions and to recognize always what was the right thing to do and then to do it".  Pope Pius XII (1943) also said thi...

What is the meaning of Logos in Christianity?

Matthew Henry was an excellent bible teacher who lived in the 18th century. In the introduction of his commentary on the book of John, he wrote: "Austin says (de Civitate Dei, lib. 10, cap. 29) that his friend Simplicius told him he had heard a Platonic philosopher say that these first verses of St. John's gospel were worthy to be written in letters of gold. The learned Francis Junius, in the account he gives of his own life, tells how he was in his youth infected with loose notions in religion, and by the grace of God was wonderfully recovered by reading accidentally these verses in a bible which his father had designedly laid in his way. He says that he observed such a divinity in the argument, such an authority and majesty in the style, that his flesh trembled, and he was struck with such amazement that for a whole day he scarcely knew where he was or what he did; and thence he dates the beginning of his being religious. Let us enquire what there is in those strong lines...
