What is the difference between Mercy and Grace?

Mercy and grace are two distinct aspects of God's attributes. Mercy and grace do not carry the same meaning, even though some people ignorantly thinks they mean the same thing. Mercy and grace are two sides of the same coin, they both reveal the depth of God's love for us. In Christ Jesus, God has lavished these blessings upon us gratuitously, for in him we have obtained both Mercy and grace. When you carefully study the scriptures, you will realize that the contexts in which both words are often used, differ greatly in their meaning. I encourage you to read through this article, as I, by the grace of God explore the meaning of both words into details for your spiritual edification  What is the biblical definition of Mercy? Mercy means withholding deserved punishment against an offender. When you show clemency to someone who deserves punishment for his or her actions, is what can be defined as Mercy. For instance, a thief breaks into your house, and steals a significant amount ...

Why was Jesus not called Immanuel?

I must confess that this is a very good question, it is a question which has made me to dig deep into the scriptures. Some people genuinely ask this question, because they really want to know the truth. Others ask this same question, just because they want to attack the bible, as being a book full of contradictions. But one thing is clear, the bible is not a self contradictory book, it is a book which is consistent with itself. The fact that we cannot reconcile seeming contradictory passages does not in any way mean, there are errors and contradictions in the bible. I will employ my powers to provide an answer to this important question in simple words so you can understand. Immanuel was one of his titles Every title of Jesus reveals an aspect of his character and work. Immanuel was a title which reveals Jesus divine nature. The prophet Isaiah prophesied saying: Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His na...

Is there anyone God cannot save?

The answer to this question is no. There is no one whom God cannot save by his grace and for his glory. We have all sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3; 23) . It is for this reason, that God took on a human nature in addition to his divine nature, that he might save us through the sacrifice of himself.  There is no one who is beyond God's saving power. Jesus Christ came on earth to seek and to save that which was lost (Luke 19; 10) . No matter how wretched and sinful Man was, yet he stooped so low in order to save the lost for himself. Faith is the only means of salvation  No one who comes to God on the basis of faith in Christ Jesus will ever be cast out. In the book of John, it is written: "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life (John 3:16) . Whoever that exercises saving faith in Christ will be saved eternally. Faith in Christ is the only necessary ingredient for s...

What is the Hypostatic union in Christianity?

Hypostatic union is a rich term which carries deep theological significance. The hypostatic union is a central doctrine in our Christian creed which is non negotiable. The hypostatic union helps us to better comprehend the nature of Christ. It is a term used to describe the two distinct natures of Christ, namely his divine and human nature. The divine and human nature united in one hypostasis, is what we call the hypostatic union. The union of the divine and human nature in Christ with each nature retaining their essential attributes is what we call the hypostatic union, see proof-text (Colossians 2; 9, John 1-3, 14, Philippians 2: 6-8). In simple language, the hypostatic union means that Jesus is both God and Man at the same time. Avoid these Erroneous Teachings It is amazing that many people out there have a distorted view about the hypostatic union, which has gravely affected their Christology to their own detriment. Some people believe that there are two Christ's, one who is h...

Is Church attendance important?

This is an important question which must be answered biblically. There are certain Christians who do not place much value in church attendance or in going to church. Others also sees church attendance as an integral part of the life of a Christian. But what does God's word says concerning this important subject matter? Is church attendance very important or as Christians we can do without it? The word of God is our final authority, and we are to subject ourselves to whatever it teaches, concerning this all important question. Do not be like the others The bible says: Not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near (Hebrews 10; 25) . Even in the early church,  certain Christians were in the habit of willfully forsaking the assembling of the brethren, which ought not to be so. Let us look at some of the reasons why some professing Christians do not go to church or consider church attend...

Who is the Angel of the LORD in the old testament?

We have an interesting figure who appears throughout the pages of the old testament by the name the angel of the LORD or the angel of God. He is a not a mere angel like the other good angels of God. Many people are of the view that the angel of the LORD is an ordinary created angel, but when you carefully examine the context with which he appears, it proves beyond reasonable doubt that he is not a created angel. This particular figure speaks as God, he identifies himself as Yahweh himself, and at other times he speaks as one sent by God. The angel of the LORD was a divine manifestation of God in human flesh. I dedicated ample time to study about who the angel of the LORD is and am excited to share the truth, which I learnt from the scriptures with you. Let us look at some of the places where the angel of the LORD appears, so we can gain a better understanding of his true identity. Sarah treated Hagar her maid harshly and for that reason she fled from her house and see what happened nex...

Is Jesus Christ in the Old testament?

Many people are of the view that the Man Jesus Christ is not found in the sacred pages of the old testament scriptures. But is this claim true? The bible is a unified book, both the old and new testament points to him. Jesus Christ is the overarching theme of the whole bible. He is ubiquitous not only in the new testament, but in the pages of the old testament as well. Jesus is in the O.T, but you can read it several times and you will still not see him there, unless the Spirit of God floods your heart with light before you will be able to see him in the O.T. Jesus is not obscure, but he is clearly revealed in the old testament. I pray that through this article you will see Jesus conspicuously in the old testament for your spiritual edification  Jesus claims that the old testament scriptures bears witness about him Jesus made it clear in several places that the old testament points to him. He said to his audience: You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have et...
