Is Jesus the true Messiah?

The question as to whether Jesus is the Messiah or not is a subject of much controversy. Many scholars have written on this important subject matter, some have argued extensively for and others have argued against the claim that Jesus is the Messiah. Many people came and made claims to be the promised Messiah, but all turned out to be a lie. None of them fits the description of the Messiah as revealed in the holy scriptures. For a claim to be substantiated, the person must be a able to fulfill the numerous prophecies respecting the Messiah. All those that came before the true Messiah, it was evident that they were nothing but false Messiah's. There is only one Messiah who truly came and fulfilled the countless prophecies about himself. Who is he, someone might ask? I encourage you to carefully read through this article, as I argue for the case of the one true Messiah who fulfilled the countless prophecies  Prophecies about the Messiah  It was prophesied that the Messiah will c...

What makes the gospel good news?

Christians from all over around the world have been proclaiming the gospel for many many years now. The preaching of the gospel has literally transformed the lives of innumerable people, and it continues to impact lives once it is shared with others by the power of the holy Spirit. Even, I, the author of this blog, am a living testimony of how the gospel makes a transformative impact in others. I remember in my unregenerate state, how that my heart was far away from God, how I had no love for Christ and had nothing to do with the church, until one day I read a little christian book. After reading the book, I made a decision to follow after Christ wholeheartedly, and it pleased the Lord not only to save me by his gratuitous grace, but also granted me the gift of communicating the truth of the gospel through writing. The gospel is indeed a good news, for which I am not ashamed to preach nor to share through writing, because it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone who believes ...

Was Judas Iscariot saved?

The above question is often a debated topic among Christians concerning the eternal destiny of Judas Iscariot. There are some group of Christians who believe Judas was never saved during the time he walked with Jesus. They believe though he was chosen by Jesus to be one of his disciples, yet he was never saved, but the rest of the disciples rested in Christ alone for salvation. Other class of believers  refutes the teaching that Judas was never saved. They hold the view he was chosen by Christ to be an apostle like the rest of the eleven, but unfortunately at a point in his life, his heart waxed cold and he betrayed his master for 30 pieces of silver, and as a result he lost his salvation. The truth is that both sides cannot be right. One has to be right whiles the other must be wrong. So the question is this, which of the two views is much more consistent with what God's word teaches? The answer to this question can be found in the holy writ, therefore I beseech thee by the mercie...

Can a Christian be sinless in this life?

It is interesting to know that there are certain people who holds the view that it is possible for a born again Christian to attain the level of sinless perfection in this life. John Wesley an eminent Christian minister taught that sinless perfection is possible in this life. Roman Catholics for example considers Mary as sinless, because according to them she was preserved from original sin, for the reason that she will be the mother of the Messiah. But of course, no where is it written in the scriptures that Mary was immaculate. Mary was a sinner just like everyone else.  By nature, she became a sinner through the disobedience of Adam and she herself needed a Savior to rescue her from her sins. After she became pregnant with Jesus she said this: And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior (Luke 1:47). Mary's faith was in his Son alone for salvation and at the right time he died for her sins on the cross. There is no single text of scripture which supports the teaching of the sinle...

What does it mean when Jesus said he came not to abolish the law, but to fulfill it?

As part of Jesus sermon on the mount, he made this important claim, "Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill" (Matthew 5:17). It's quite unfortunate that so many believers have a poor understanding of the meaning of Jesus statement, which has led to a wrong interpretation of what he meant by what he said. In this verse, Jesus defined his mission and his mission was not to abrogate the law or the prophets but to fulfill it. Jesus didn't want them to have a double mind with respect to his relationship with the old testament scriptures, for this reason he stated it clearly without any obscurity whatsoever by saying, "Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill". The Law and the prophets points to Jesus Christ  The law and the prophets refers chiefly to the entire old testament scriptures. The Law refers to the first five books of Moses, and th...

Can the Law Justify?

This is an important theological question which many people out there continue to wrestle with. Many teachers teaches that strict adherence to the law can justify, but is this teaching in concordance with the other parts of the scriptures? To be justified is to be declared righteous. The truth is that the law has never justified anyone since it's inception. None of our father's who dwelt under the law could perfectly keep the law, therefore the law couldn't justify them. This tells us that the law cannot be a means of justification, because by the works of the Law shall no flesh be justified in his sight.  The saints who lived before the law was given were justified and yet their justification was never by their works of obedience of any sort. For example, Abraham lived before the law and yet was justified not by works, but by grace through faith: What then shall we say that Abraham, our forefather according to the flesh, has found? For if Abraham was justified by works, he...

What does it mean that Jesus is our high Priest?

Beloved in Christ, when you read through the scriptures, you will come across different names and titles ascribed to the Man Jesus Christ. Jesus is called our redeemer, Alpha and Omega, Shepherd, our righteousness, Savior, bridegroom, friend of sinners, the Lamb of God and many more. These titles reveals aspects of his person and work. One of the titles that we are going to study today is Jesus as our high Priest. Many people out there have a wrong view of what it truly means, that Jesus is our high Priest. In this article, I will labor assiduously to present an accurate biblical view of what it truly means that Jesus is our high Priest. Who is a Priest? Among the twelve tribes in Israel, the tribe of Levi was specifically chosen by God to serve as his priests. Priests played an indispensable role in the Jewish religious system. Priests were mediators between God and the people of Israel. They acted as a go-between God and the people of Israel by offering sacrifices to atone for their ...

Did Jesus truly existed before his incarnation?

This is an important question which must be addressed biblically, lest we will fall into grievous error. There are many people out there who are of the view, that Jesus Christ was not in being from eternity past, but began to exist at the time of his birth. Such people do not believe in the preexistence of Christ, and also outrightly denies the teaching that he is God. But the question is this, is it true that the Man Jesus was not in existence, until his miraculous conception and birth by the virgin Mary? Others also, are of the opinion that Jesus was in being prior to his incarnation. They believe Jesus existed as the second person of the triune Godhead, before at a point in human history he took on flesh and dwelt among us. Which of the two opposing views is much more consistent with the whole counsel of God, respecting the nature of Christ? The only thing we can do is to examine the question in the light of what the scriptures teaches concerning it. I encourage you to stick with me...
