A born again Christian commits suicide. Is he or she still saved?

I must confess that of a truth, this question is really a difficult question, but I will employ all of my powers to give you an answer, which is consistent with the whole counsel of God. Suicide is not a good practice and I strongly oppose it, and I will never encourage anyone to consider it as an option. But on the other hand, some of our fellow brethren in the faith have unfortunately in the time of extreme weakness committed such act, but the question is this, is such people still saved or they lost their salvation as a result of what they did? Many Christians are of the view, that a person expedites his way to hell when he or she commits suicide, but is this teaching in unison with the holy writ? Others also believe that a person who commits self murder or suicide is still saved and will be with the Lord Jesus in heaven throughout eternity, but is this assertion also true? Before we delve deeper into our subject matter for today, I would like to express my heartfelt condolences to ...

What are the benefits of our Justification?

Justification by faith is an important doctrine in our Christian creed which is non negotiable, because it is at the very heart of the gospel. The early reformers taught it extensively, because they were fully persuaded that it is a truth revealed in the holy scriptures, and we are also called by God to assiduously herald this same truth with all our might and strength. Justification by faith is the gospel and every Christian is freely justified by faith in the person of our Lord Jesus Christ. Works of any kind as the basis of justification are insufficient in themselves to make us acceptable to God and be accounted as righteous. God in his grace freely justified us in his sight, the moment we trusted in Christ for salvation, and our justification comes with many benefits. Let us look at seven benefits of our justification by faith in Christ  Peace with God  The bible says: Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans...

What is the difference between Justification and sanctification?

Justification and sanctification are blessings we obtained the moment we trusted in Jesus Christ for salvation. It is important for every Christian to be well abreast with what the bible teaches concerning what justification and sanctification is and the difference between them, so we can better appreciate the finished work of Christ. It is amazing that some believe and teaches that justification is a process, and that a person can be declared righteous only on the day of judgement, but is this statement true? Others also are of the opinion that sanctification is not important, that the only thing that matters is that you have been justified and accepted in Christ Jesus. Is this assertion in tune with what the bible really teaches? It is clear to me that many people out there have a distorted view of justification and sanctification to their own disadvantage. How can we rightly divide the word of truth, if we have poor theology? It behooves us then, to give ourselves wholly to God'...

Is it true that James contradicts Paul on Justification?

Many Christians and theologians are of the view that apostle James contradicts apostle Paul on Justification, but is this assertion true? Can James who wrote by the divine influence and inspiration of the Holy Spirit, write anything which is in contradiction to that of apostle Paul who also wrote by the leading of the same Spirit? Is God then the author of confusion? Apostle James wrote in his epistle: You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone (James 2: 24).  Apostle James seems to be teaching that faith plus works equals justification, in antithesis to what Paul taught: For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the Law (Romans 3: 28). These two texts appears to contradict each other, but the question is this, do they really contradict each other as some claim? Skeptics and enemies of the Christian faith have used these two texts as an occasion to severely criticize the bible, as containing errors and contradictions, because they fa...

What is Justification according to the bible?

Beloved in Christ, it is utterly impossible to read the epistles of apostle Paul, without coming across the legal term justification. The apostle being a learned man was inspired by the Spirit of God to exegete in great detail, the meaning of justification in relation to our salvation. The biblical doctrine of justification is at the very heart of the gospel and it carries deep theological significance. Every Christian must understand this doctrine inside out because it is central in our creed.  According to church history, the reformers rediscovered the gospel of justification by faith, and that led to a major theological revolution around the world. They broke out from the Roman Catholic Church whose teaching was in antithesis to the biblical doctrine of justification by faith alone. Their break away and radical preaching of justification by faith alone led to the salvation of countless souls. The doctrine of justification by faith is the gospel, and am glad to give you an in-dep...

How were people saved in the old testament?

This question is a difficult one which puzzles the minds of many brethren in the faith. There are a lot of controversies surrounding this topic about the old testament way of salvation. There are some who believe that the way of salvation in the new testament is the same way as the old testament. But is this asseveration true? Others also are of the view that the way of salvation was by a strict adherence to the laws of Moses. But is this assertion also true? The old testament way of salvation is clearly revealed in the Holy scriptures for our spiritual edification. Let us dive right into God's word to find out for ourselves what the bible really teaches concerning this all important question. Were the old testament saints saved by the works of the law? God in his wisdom gave his laws to the children of Israel to obey. God's law was good, holy and just. The laws contained God's revealed will for them. But we know from the scriptures that they repeatedly broke God's law....

What does it mean that I'm a New Creature?

In the book of 2 Corinthians, the bible says: Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new (2 Corinthians 5; 17). This text of scripture has been a blessing to countless believers all over around the world. It is a passage which reveals our true identity, it reveals who we truly are in Christ and how God sees us. My heart is always filled with great joy whenever I ponder over second Corinthians chapter five verse seventeen, because it reminds me of what Jesus Christ has already made me, ''a new creation". I am super excited and I thank God for giving me this awesome privilege, for me to expound the meaning of what Paul meant by, "If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature" for your spiritual edification. You are a new creature The bible makes it clear that to be in Christ is what makes you a new creature, which presupposes that to be outside of Christ is to be a sinful creature. The day...
