What does it mean that Jesus was for a little while made lower than the angels?

The above question is a difficult one which has unfortunately led many to fall into grievous error. Some Christians even get offended when you ask them the above same question. They get infuriated because of a lack of insight into what the bible actually teaches with regards to this important subject matter. Personally, in time past I wrestled with this same question. I employed all of my powers just for me to find a satisfactory answer to the above question, but all was to no avail. It took a long time for me to finally gain an in-depth understanding of it's true meaning. Since then, my heart has been at peace within me, and am glad to share the same truth with you.  In the book of Hebrews, it is written: But we do see Him who was made for a little while lower than the angels, namely, Jesus, because of the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, so that by the grace of God He might taste death for everyone (Hebrews 2: 9). It is important to know that, false teachers uses ...

Why is the virgin birth very essential?

To say a virgin conceived and gave birth to a child without the concurrence of a man, such wonderful truth does not sound well in the ears of the enemies of Christianity. The virgin birth is a manifestation of the many sided complicated wisdom of God, it reveals not only God's omnipotence, but also his wisdom. The virgin birth is an essential dogma of the Christian faith, because it has biblical basis and it has everything to do with our salvation. The bible is God breathed, it was written by the influence of the Spirit of God, therefore we accept it as true and hold on to the truth revealed to us by the divine Spirit, respecting the virgin birth.  The virgin birth is as essential as the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. If you claim to be a bible believing Christian and yet outrightly deny the virgin birth, then of a truth, without any hesitation, I doubt your profession of faith in Jesus Christ. Anyone who claims to be a follower of our Lord Jesus, must of a matter of n...

What does it mean that Jesus is the Firstborn over all creation?

Apostle Paul by the Spirit of God, referred to Jesus Christ as the firstborn over every creature. The apostle usage of the phrase, "Firstborn over all creation" has caused much controversy in time past and it's still polemical in our generation. Some people in their bid to explore the meaning of firstborn in relation to Jesus Christ, have unfortunately fallen into grave error to their own eternal peril, save they exercise saving faith in Christ. The Jehovah's witness for example, is a religious sect that vehemently do not subscribe to the biblical doctrine of the deity of Christ. Their view about the nature of Christ is in antithesis to what the bible really teaches about who Jesus Christ truly is. In the book of Colossians, the apostle wrote: The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation (Colossians 1; 15). This text is one of their favorite scripture, which they often capitalize on to suit their belief and heretical teachings. They expla...

If Jesus was God, then why did he cry out, "My God, My God, why have you forsaken Me?

This question continue to puzzle the minds of many people out there, who are genuinely seeking to know the truth as it is in Jesus. But am also not ignorant of the fact that others, simply ask this question merely out of prejudice against the deity of Christ. In their attempt to discredit the authenticity of scriptural evidence of the deity of Christ, they ask questions like this; if Jesus is God as the Christian's claims, then why did he cry out, "My God, My God, why have you forsaken Me? Others also ask, if Jesus was truly God, then how can God be forsaken? Unitarians are part of those who reject the biblical doctrine of the trinity and affirm that God is only one person. They are a sect that rejects what the bible teaches about the true deity of Christ. They claim that Jesus Christ is not God in human flesh and that he is not equal with God. A typical example of unitarians are the Jehovah's witnesses. They are infuriated when we claim that God is one, but eternally exis...

If Jesus was God, then why did he not know the day and hour of his return?

Is it true that Jesus did not know the day and hour of his return during the days of his flesh? The answer is yes, he did not know, for it is written: "But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone. For the coming of the Son of Man will be just like the days of Noah (Matthew 24: 36-37). So if Jesus is God, as we Christians claim, then how come he did not know the day and hour of his return? Does that mean he is not omniscient as we claim? The apparent ignorance on the part of our Lord Jesus, respecting his return have been used as an occasion, by wicked and unlearned men to deny his true deity. I must confess that the theme for our discourse today is a difficult one, but the answer to the above question lies in the incarnation of Christ. The bible is clear about the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ.  In the book of Colossians, it is written: For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form (Colossians 2: 9). And in ...

What does it mean that Jesus is the only begotten Son?

In the book of John, it is written: "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life (John 3; 16). When Jesus is referred as the "only begotten Son", what does it truly mean? False teachers have interpreted "only begotten" to mean that Jesus at a point in time was created. They use the biblical term "only begotten" as one of the proof text to countenance their false belief, and teaching that Jesus is not God. They use "only begotten Son" to deny his true deity, but they do so to their own eternal destruction. If we really want to comprehend the meaning of "only begotten Son" in relation to Christ, then it is imperative that we apply the laws of hermeneutics, in order to ascertain it's meaning.  One of the laws of hermeneutics states that, the bible has it's own original language, and it is written in the Greek and Hebrew language. The Engli...

What does it mean that, "the LORD said unto my Lord"?

In the book of Psalms, it is written: The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool. This important psalm was penned down by king David. The king was moved by the Spirit of God to make such prophetic utterance which carries deep theological significance. This psalm is the most frequently quoted psalm by the new testament authors, which conveys the idea that it is a psalm worthy of our consideration and deep study. Let us by the help of the Spirit dig deep into the meaning of the Messianic psalm. The psalm reads: "The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool". The first LORD in the Hebrew is "Yahweh" translated in English as "Jehovah" which means the self existent God, the great I AM.  The second Lord in the Hebrew is "Adon" which means, sovereign ruler or Master. The first LORD is used in reference to God the father and the second Lord points to J...

The importance of the ascension of Christ

The bodily ascension of Jesus Christ into heaven was a reality which can be found in the holy writ. The ascension of Christ is held in high esteem by every Christian, because it is pivotal in our confession of faith. It is written in the apostles creed; On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven". Hitherto, the church of Christ for centuries, have held a strong belief not only in the death and resurrection of Christ, but also in his ascension into the heavens. Are there biblical records to countenance the ascension of Jesus Christ? Certainly, in the book of Luke, the evangelist wrote by the Spirit: And He led them out as far as Bethany, and He lifted up His hands and blessed them. While He was blessing them, He parted from them and was carried up into heaven. And they, after worshiping Him, returned to Jerusalem with great joy, and were continually in the temple praising God (Luke 24: 50-53). The high Priest as part of his priestly duty was to confer blessing upon the...
